Introduction to Live Tracking
Live Tracking is a dedicated overview to help you monitor your active Routes, or those that will start very soon. This page can give you all the tools needed for a proactive handling of delays and other deviations, allowing your organization to achieve higher quality in delivery metrics and better customer experience.
There is no right or wrong way to use Live Tracking, as it is a multi-functional and highly tailorable tool, that makes it able to serve several purposes at once. However, more profound knowledge or understanding of some functions, will allow you to use its full potential.
Getting Started with Live Tracking
Accessing Live Tracking
- Log in to the TMS.
- Go to 'Routes' in the menu.
- Select the ‘Live Tracking’ tab to open the overview.
Understanding the Interface
The Live Tracking page is divided in two sections:
- On the left, a list with the Routes, where each card is a Route
- On the right, a Map, representing all the active Drivers. Each driver is represented with a blue dot.
The Routes displayed here in this page are the so-called “Active Routes”. The active Routes are those that satisfy the following requirements:
- Route Status = “Not Approved” and Route Start Time between 24 hours in the past, and 6 hours in the future
- Route Status = “Not Started” and Route Start Time between 6 hours in the past, and 2 hours in the future
- Route Status = “In Progress” and Route Start Time between 12 hours in the past, and 2 hours in the future
The Routes are sorted by their Criticality.
- Red means the Route has high Criticality.
- Yellow means the Route has medium Criticality.
- Grey means the Route has low Criticality.
Clicking on any of the Route cards, a detailed view of the Route will open, showing the stops overview on the left, and the Route on the right.
The Drivers are also color coded:
- Red means they are driving a Route with high Criticality
- Yellow means they are driving a Route with medium Criticality
The black squared icons are instead representing the Routes that are not assigned to any Driver yet, and they are located at the Route start address.
How to use each Live tracking component
Route list
- Route Progress:
- If the route is Not Approved or Not Started, it will say Not Approved and Not Started
- If the Driver is driving, it will say “En route to”, followed by the next stop
- If the Driver is executing a Stop, it will say “Arrived at”, followed by the current stop
- Route Id:
- Clicking on the Route Id, the Route page will be opened
- Count of Stops on the Route
- Route Owner: the name of the Organization owning the Route
- Route Reference
- Route fulfiller: the name of the Organization who is executing the Route
- Driver Name
- Driver Phone Number
If the Route has a problem that requires the User to take action, it will be displayed as an additional box in the Route Card. Some of the problems you could see are:
-
Expected delay: summarizes if there is any delayed stop on the Route
- Multiple delays are written separated by commas, e.g. “Expected delay at stop no. 14, 31, 34”
- If more consecutive stops are delayed, they will be written separated by a hyphen, e.g. “Expected delay at stop no. 14, 31-34”, meaning that the delayed stops are 14, 31, 32, 33, 34.
- Driver offline: if the Driver has been offline for more than 5 minutes, an indication will be shown
- No assigned driver: if the Route is not approved, and expected to start soon, a message will be displayed: “No assigned driver” followed by the Planned start date and time of the Route
Route details
Clicking on the Route card, a more detailed view of the Route will be displayed. It will contain the list of all stops and display them on the map as well.
- Support note: if you have to take a note about the Route, you can add it here and it will be stored on the Route
- Stop number
- Recipient name
- Stop status
- Not visited: the driver still has to get there
- Arrived: the driver has arrived, and is performing the tasks
- Completed: the driver completed the stop with success
- Failed: the driver was not able to perform the delivery
- Cancelled: the stop has been cancelled, because no delivery had to be made there (e.g. customer cancelled, order was moved on a different route)
- If the stop is expected to be delayed, a red label will inform you about the expected delay.
Filtering
- Teams: If you have teams defined in your Organizations, and you have assigned Routes to a Team, this filter allows you to just see the Routes assigned to one specific Team
- Criticality: filter Routes by their criticality level. If you select more than one option, all Routes with Criticality in the active selection will be retrieved
- Status: filter Routes based on their Status. If you select more than one option, all Routes with Status in the active selection will be retrieved
-
Driver assignment:
- Not active: shows all Routes
- Assigned to Driver: shows just Routes that are currently assigned to a Driver
- Not assigned to Driver: shows the Routes that have not been assigned to a Driver yet
- Vehicle type: Filter on the Vehicle type on which the Route is planned. If you select more than one option, all Routes with Vehicle in the active selection will be retrieved
-

- Route id
- Route Reference
- Route Fulfiller
- Stop Reference
- Driver Name

Pro tips for using the Text filter
- When using the text filter, if you separate you research strings with a comma, you will be able to search across multiple fields as if the comma was an AND logic operator

FAQ
Why if I zoom in on the map, the Routes in the list change their ordering?
Because when you zoom to have less than 20 routes on your screen, we first present those Routes you see in the map (ranked by criticality), and just after them we report all the remaining routes, not visible in the map (still ranked by criticality)
What does the pin in the Route card mean?
When you click on the pin next to a Route, the said Route will be moved to the top of the list. If more Routes are pinned, they will be listed in descending order according to Criticality.
Use it to identify the Routes you want to monitor closely.
How is Criticality computed?
